Adele wins Emmy Awards, 1 step closer to EGOT title

London-based singer Adele is happy to have won a trophy at the Emmy Awards. Adele’s win came thanks to her concert broadcast, which was titled Adele: One Night Only in the Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special category.

So far, Adele is known to have won 15 Grammy awards and an Oscar trophy. Through this victory, Adele is also close to the title of EGOT or a collection of prestigious Hollywood trophy sets consisting of Emmy awards, Grammys, Oscars and Tonys. Adele is known to already have trophies from the Emmy awards, Grammy and Oscar awards. He is just short of winning a trophy from the Tony Awards.

Through a recent post on Instagram, Adele expressed her excitement to have earned the title of EGO after winning the Emmy awards.

“Oh my gosh I’m so happy! Thank you Ben Winston for stopping by me this afternoon to give me this trophy!!! Trust me, now after the Emmy awards I officially have EGO,” Adele said in her upload showing off the Emmy trophy on Instagram, Sunday (4/9/22) US time.

“Thank you Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, I am honored to receive this. Thank you to everyone involved,”

Adele is known to have won four categories for her One Night Only concert. The four categories include Variety Special (Pre-Recorded); Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Special; Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Variety Series Or Special; and Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Variety Special.

In addition to Adele, the music video director also won this Emmy award. Director Paul Dugdale took home Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special for the online concert that aired on November 14, 2021.
