GFriend Threatened to Disband After Not Renewing Contract With Agency

Shocking news from the K-Popworld, namely GFriend. Visiting from Soompi, Tuesday (5/18/2021), the girl group decided not to renew their contract with the agency that had been overshadowing her. In an official statement, the Source Music agency said their exclusive contract with GFriend expires on May 22, 2021.

The agency did not deny that the six girl group members would not return under the Company’s Source Music.

“After lengthy deliberations and discussions, GFriend and Source Music agreed to part ways,” the agency wrote.

During their 6-year debut, the agency felt the six members had received an unlimited abundance of love from their fans.

“We would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to GFriend for allowing Source Music to accompany them on their journey,” the agency said in a written statement.

Source Music also expressed its deepest gratitude to the fans of the girl group they have been in the past few years.

“We ask that you always provide unchanging love and support to all members who will embark on new and diverse adventures,” the agency wrote.

“Source Music always stays supportive of all members as they take the first step to a fresh start. thank you,” the agency concluded.

Known, GFriend is a Kpop girl group with six members formed by Source Music in 2015. They debuted on January 15, 2015 with the release of the single “Glass Bead”. Now the six members Yuju, Sowon, Eunha, Yerin, Umji, SinB have not revealed which new agency they will go to after leaving Source Music.

Previously, a number of achievements were achieved, one of which was the first girl group to be interviewed in a Grammy Mini Masterclass. Until now, it is not known why they left the agency that had been overshadowing him. Source Music also did not comment further on whether they remained as a group or were disbanded.
