The presenter of The Late Late Show, James Corden, made a joke about the Bangtan Boys’ appearance at the UNITED NATIONS General Assembly. In the siding, BTS’s performance became the opening which was then connected with their speech.
Bts’s appearance at the UN is not the first time. Earlier in 2018, the South Korean boyband also visited the United Nations to promote Generation Unlimited. Generation Unlimited is a UNICEF campaign aimed at educating young people.
Quoting from the Independent, Thursday (09/23/2021), James Corden called bts’s presence at the UN headquarters as an unusual guest. But, apparently the statement offended ARMY (a term for BTS fans).
“The moment of snaring. This marks the first time 15-year-old girls everywhere have found themselves wishing they were UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
After the episode’s airing, BTS fans enlivened social media with criticism of James Corden for his comments. A number of ARMY were angry and disappointed that they had previously considered Corden a BTS fan.
Because of this incident, James Corden also occupies the position of trending topic Twitter. In addition, many BTS fans vented their disappointment to the 43-year-old host. ARMY said Corden is currently listed in their “black book” after his statement.
“James Corden really just called us all 15-year-old girls for no reason,” an ARMY member wrote on Twitter.
Another user also pointed out that after Corden’s comments, Google’s rating of his talk show dropped from 4.2 now to 2.6. This shows that bts fans who make the ranking position decreased.
The late late show’s official Twitter account has removed a video featuring James Corden’s comments about BTS. However, the video has already spread and is stored by fans of the 7-member boy band.
