Mariah Carey Closes Out The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Performance

This year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was closed out by Mariah Carey. She kicked off the holiday season with a rendition of her classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” “My childhood fantasy is becoming a reality!” Carey mentioned it on Instagram. “I’ll be opening for none other than SANTA CLAUS.”

Carey, while undeniably a Queen of Christmas, was recently denied the exclusive “Queen of Christmas” trademark. Still, opening for Sir Claus is a significant flex.

Of course, Carey’s performance was far from the only noteworthy aspect of this year’s parade. To begin, several new balloons debuted earlier today, including Bluey, the iconic Australian children’s TV character; Greg Heffley, the protagonist from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series; Striker, the United States Soccer Star; and Stuart the Minion.

Before Carey took the stage, the cast of Pitch Perfect performed: Bumper in Berlin; Betty Who; Big Time Rush; Blanco Brown; Cam; Fitz and the Tantrums; Gloria, Sasha, and Emily Estefan; Jordin Sparks; Joss Stone; Kirk Franklin, Miss America Emma Broyles, Sean Paul, Paula Abdul, Ziggy Marley, Lea Michele, and the legendary Dionne Warwick all appeared. (In the meanwhile, NBC’s Al Roker had to miss the parade for the first time in 27 years.)
