Tina Turner Remembers "Beloved Son" Ronnie Turner, Who Passed Away at the Age of 62

Ronnie Turner, Tina Turner’s youngest biological son, died, and she is still in mourning.

The 83-year-old music diva uploaded a black-and-white portrait of herself in sadness to Instagram on Thursday after her child, who was 62, passed away. She captioned the photo, “Ronnie, you departed the world far too early. I close my eyes in grief and think of you, my precious son. Although the actor’s exact cause of death is unknown, he had a history of health problems throughout the years, including cancer.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a 911 call in Encino, California, where the caller stated that Ronnie was having difficulty breathing and eventually stopped breathing altogether, according to TMZ, who broke the story. Turner was declared dead at the site despite CPR attempts from bystanders, according to the paramedics.

French singer Afida Turner, Ronnie’s 15-year wife, was the first to disclose his passing in a post on Instagram, describing him as “a true angel” and her “best friend.” She penned, “Even though I tried my hardest, I was unable to save you this time. I’ve loved you for 17 years, but this is terrible, and I’m furious.” The singer then said, “This is tragic; may your father, Ike Turner, and your brother, Craig, join Aline in eternal bliss. So unjust!”

The deaths of Ronnie’s older brother Craig, who committed himself in 2018, his father, who passed away in 2007, and Tina’s sister Alline Bullock, who passed away in 2010, were all mentioned by Afida.

Turner talked to Vanity Fair in a December 2020 interview on the challenging times she’s faced both personally and professionally and how she overcame them. There have been many unfavorable situations that may have ended my life. Instead, she remarked, “I used them as stepping stones on my upward journey.

“This process of transformation is known as ‘turning poison into medicine. It’s an age-old idea that has evolved into the uplifting guiding principle of my existence. Simply expressed, it means that we always have the ability inside ourselves to recognize the underlying worth in any negativity or “poison” and turn it into something positive, into a “medicine.” Every challenge, setback, or calamity also has the ability to teach us something new, help us develop, and help us soar to previously unattainable levels of wisdom and fulfillment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Turner’s son appeared in the 1993 film What’s Love Got to Do With It, which starred Angela Bassett as Tina and Laurence Fishburne as Ike.

Michael and Ike Jr., two adoptive sons who were fathered by Ike, are also the children of Tina.
