ASEAN Corona Emergency Status

Indonesia became the world’s attention because of the coronavirus epidemic (Coronavirus Disease-2019 / Covid-19) which is back ‘crazy’. But Indonesia is not alone, because some neighboring countries are confused about the virus that initially spread in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, People’s Republic of China.

In Indonesia, additional corona positive patients are indeed in down mode. The number of new patients increased by 28,228, an increase of 28,228 daily cases since July 4, 2021.

But the most concerning is the number of patients dying more and more. The other day, 1,487 patients who were attacked by coronavirus died. Indonesia is the country with the highest daily death rate in the world.

However, some neighboring countries in Southeast Asia then face the same problem. In Thailand, new patients are increasing by more than 10,000 people per day on 10 consecutive days.

In the last 14 days, generally new patients in the Land of White Elephants increased by 11,975 people per day. Up from the average of 14 days ago is 6,798 people every day.

As in Indonesia, the number of patients who die in Thailand is growing. In the last 14 days, the average death toll increased by 97 people per day. It can be more than the average of 14 days ago is 61 people every day.

The movement of anti-coronavirus vaccination in Thailand is relatively slow. As of July 23, 2021, Our World in Data records generally seven daily vaccinations at 230,190 numbers per day. It is considered the slowest among some ASEAN-5 countries, only better than Singapore.

But it’s worth noting the Thai community is getting more and more compared to Singapore. As of July 24, 2021, 51.6% of Singaporeans have found full vaccination. And in Thailand it’s only 5.2%.
