Operation Unicorn is the protocol for handling the death of the queen who breathed her last in Scotland. According to the operation plan, Elizabeth’s coffin will be laid to rest at the Palace of Holyroodhouse two days after her death.

Elizabeth’s casket will then be taken by road to St. Gils Cathedral on the Royal Mile. At the cathedral, the royal family will pay their respects before it opens to the public.

The Queen’s coffin was then taken to Waverley Railway Station to be sent to London on the Royal Train.

According to The Independent’s report, once Elizabeth crossed the Scottish border, Operation Unicorn came to an end and was replaced with Operation London Bridge.

In London, Elizabeth’s body will be laid to rest at Buckingham Palace and then taken to Westminster Hall. As the body was laid to rest in Westminster Hall, a period of state mourning ensued for four days.

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will take place ten days after her death. On the day of the funeral, Elizabeth’s coffin will be taken to Westminster Abbey. This is the last chance for the community to say goodbye.

Elizabeth’s body was then interred at Windsor Castle, next to the grave of her husband, Prince Philip, who died in April 2021.

“London Bridge has gone down” and “London Bridge has fallen” immediately became the talk of the internet after the news of Queen Elizabeth II’s death was announced by Buckingham Palace on Thursday (9/8/2022) evening.

Operation London Bridge is a part of Queen Elizabeth II’s death procession. This includes the announcement, mourning period and funeral details. This procedure not only targets Buckingham Palace, but also the government, news media and local authorities.

When the queen dies, the phrase “London Bridge is down” will be conveyed by Buckingham Palace in secret to the Prime Minister and important staff so that this plan is implemented. Only later, the death of Queen Elizabeth II was officially announced.

Amidst the public mourning and grief, this will be high on Britain’s agenda after Operation Unicorn is over, even in the coming months until Britain inaugurates the heir to the royal throne, the first son of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles.
