The combined dive team tasked with evacuating consisted of the Frog Force Command (Kopaska), Jalamangkara Detachment (Denjaka), and Amphibious Intai Battalion (Yontaifib) marines of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) Navy (NAVY) successfully created the Black Box coordinates point of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft that crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands, Saturday (9/1/2021) yesterday.

Marine Lt. Sofi Ramadani, one of the divers from Yontaifib said, currently the Black Box search zone is located within a radius of 100 m near KRI Rigel.

For Sofi, today’s search was suspended due to unable weather conditions. Cloudy skies and heavy rain once pounded search positions.

He said the search for plane debris, victims or the Black Box was to resume tomorrow. However, the search will be focused first on the Black Box.

“Tomorrow will focus on finding the Black Box,” he said above the KRI Gilimanuk Bay, the waters of the Thousand Islands, Sunday( 10/ 1/ 2021).

For him, at this time KRI Rigel has partially obtained the signal Black Box Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 ill-fated aircraft. The search team was also partially deployed to search for the predicted coordinates of sriwijaya air’s Black Box position.

Sofi described, initially ping point signal Black Box was found by KRI Rigel. After being searched by a team of divers from Kopaska, Taifib, and Denjaka equipped with Ping Locator equipment from KNKT so that the search position point can be narrowed. At this time the ping signal from the Black Box has not proven its exact location.

“It is still mandatory to reduce the search position,” he said.

For this liver dive, the combined team successfully created some pieces of aircraft debris, in the form of muzzles, tires, engine parts, turbines of the aircraft as well as some organs pieces of human bodies, to the clothes of sriwijaya air passengers SJ 182. The discovery was then evacuated to KRI Karau for the next trip to JICT II, Tanjung Priok.

Earlier, Marine Major Edy Tirtayasa, one of the divers from Kopaska, said the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 plane, which crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands, was destroyed, making it difficult to create debris or bodies of passengers.

He said that the crash of Sriwijaya Air in the waters of The Thousand Islands is almost the same as the crash of Lion Air JT 610, in Tanjung Karawang, West Java on October 29, 2018.

” Gone melted, the debris is small, almost exactly the same as lion air,” said Edy, when found after carrying out the dive, in the waters of the Thousand Islands, Sunday (10/ 1/ 2021).

Edy said that the destruction of Sriwijaya Air aircraft is predicted because the seabed in the waters is shallow.
