Subway Sandwich Outlets Will Open In Indonesia

Subway Sandwich Stores To Open In Indonesia

Subway, the largest sandwich restaurant from the United States, will reopen in Indonesia. The first branch of the restaurant will open in Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi) in the fourth quarter of 2021. John Chidsey, CEO of Subway, said his company wants to re-explore the culinary business in Indonesia because of the many requests from the Indonesian people.

“The demand for high Subway restaurant attendance comes from various countries in the world, including in Indonesia,” Chidsey said in his official statement on Monday (08/23/2021).

Therefore, this company is looking for business partners in the country and finally selected PT Sari Sandwich Indonesia. The company is a subsidiary of PT MAP Boga Adiperkasa Tbk (MBA) which is also part of PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP).

“MAP, a popular lifestyle retailer in Indonesia, is the ideal partner to begin our expansion in the Asia Pacific region. We believe customers in Indonesia are eager for a better choice. This is the first step in our global expansion plans.”

The cooperation agreement between MAP and Subway itself has just been signed, and the MBA is optimistic that the cooperation will not only grow Subway’s business, but also the MBA. Because Subway itself is quite popular in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Indonesian market is very large, so it is believed that it can make the sandwich restaurant company grow strong and stable in the future.

“Subway offers a good and better sandwich menu, according to the trend of indonesian consumers’ needs for a more balanced and healthy daily food menu,” said Anthony Cottan, President Director of MAB.

“In addition to being comfortable and affordable, Subway’s booking model presents each order on demand and customer taste. This will be a strong enough attraction, so it will support growth in the years to come.”

Previously, this sandwich restaurant had also opened outlets in Indonesia in the 1990s to 2000s. Their outlets are open at Plaza Senayan, Mall Ciputra Jakarta, Wisma 46 Jakarta, Taman Anggrek Mall and Pondok Indah Mall.

In addition, there is also a branch in Kuta, Bali. But as of October 2000, the stores began to close permanently.
