Italy Euro 2020 Champions

The Italian national team won the Euro 2020 title. This was confirmed after Gli Azzurri defeated England on penalties 3–2. The 2020 European Cup final between Italy vs England was held at Webley on Monday (12/07/2021). The Three Lions beat England in the match with just two minutes to go.

A cross from Kieran Trippier to Luka Shaw that slipped out of control at the far post. Shaw was able to get the ball to put Gianluigi Donnarumma ahead, England were 1-0 up. After falling behind, Italy appeared more pressing to equalise. Their attempt to score finally materialized in the 67th minute. Leonardo Bonucci broke through jordan Pickford’s goal after taking advantage of a corner.

Italy dominated after a 1–1 draw. They were able to control the ball by 62% and England 38% throughout the 90 minutes of the match. However, until the long whistle mark of the match ended, there were no additional goals. The game continued into extra time.

The scoreboard was unchanged in 2×15 minutes of extra time. The euro 2020 champions must be determined on penalties. England were forced to concede a tough opponent after losing a penalty kick 3-2.

It was the first Euro title for Italy since 1968. They have ended a 53-year wait after two defeats in the final. Previously, Italy failed to win the European Cup trophy after defeats at Euro 2000 and 2012. As for England, this defeat leaves them having to bury their dreams of winning the inaugural European Cup trophy.

Valentino Rossi Celebrates Italy Victory

Senior Italian rider Valentino Rossi also did not want to miss to celebrate his country’s victory. Rossi, who is on holiday on the island, also uploaded an Instagram story of the Italian victory.

“Siamo campioni d’europa,” Rossi wrote in Italian meaning ‘we are European champions’.

Unlike Rossi, his Petronas Yamaha SRT teammate and Italian rider Franco Morbidelli chose to re-upload the official post of his home country’s national team via his Instagram story.
