Ducati will be a serious threat at the French Grand Prix on Sunday after five of its riders finished in the top nine.
Jack Miller and Danilo Petrucci are the two leading Ducati riders who will start from P2 and P3 behind poleitter Fabio Quartararo, MotoGP’s official website says.
The Ducati heroes stayed as unlucky as in previous races.
Like when Johann Zarco of the Esponsorama Racing team crashed and crashed into Andrea Dovizioso at the Catalunya GP so the manufacturer’s team driver lost his position in the top of the standings.
Then Jack Miller was forced to fail to finish at Misano because the protective lining of Quartararo’s helmet went into the airways of the Australian rider’s Ducati GP20 motorcycle when at the Emilia Romagna GP two weeks ago.
Similarly Francesco Bagnaia fell and failed to secure his first win of the season.
Ducati’s manufacturing team was also less consistent, as Dovi and Petrucci struggled to adapt to the new Michelin rear tyres this season.
“I’m happy to be back in the front row after a tough time. Since this morning I feel I have the potential to make good results in qualifying.”
‘Unfortunately at FP3 I found a number of yellow flags and missed the opportunity to score a good time to go straight to Q2,’ said Petrucci, who is about to start from P3.’
“However, we were able to get a good result in qualifying. Starting from the front row is very important for tomorrow (this afternoon), considering at least ten riders have the speed to fight for the podium.
“After the last race in Catalunya, I felt a good sensation in braking again and low temperatures could help me too, so I’m optimistic about getting a good result.”
While his teammate, Dovizioso, will start from P6.
“I am satisfied with today’s qualifying results. My feelings with this bike were good and although I didn’t go through a perfect lap, we were able to start from the front two rows, which was always our goal.
“Our pace is also pretty good for racing. We have a number of aspects that can be improved to be able to fight with the leading in the whole race, but compared to other tracks, my feelings here are better and that’s why I’m confident for tomorrow.”
Francesco Bagnaia and Johann Zarco will attack from the P7 and P9, ensuring five Ducatis will storm from the front three at Le Mans.
