AC Milan managed to hold off home side Manchester United in the first leg of the 2021 Europa League round of 16. The Man United vs AC Milan match held at Old Trafford Stadium ended 1-1, Thursday (11/3/2021) local time or Early Friday.
Man United's goal was scored by Amad Diallio in the 50th minute of the match. Meanwhile, AC Milan managed to score through Simon Kjaer in the second half extra time which was 90+2 minutes. Milan had a good enough capital to look at the second leg of the last 16 on aggregate while 1–1. However, referee Slavko Vincic judged Leao to be offside and the goal was cancelled out. Then, Man United got a chance through Anthony Martial who volleyed in. However, his efforts still failed as Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma managed to anticipate it.
In the 12th minute, Milan broke back into the game through Franck Kessie's right-footed shot. The long-range kick was cancelled out by the referee after seeing replays from var. Franck Kessie was deemed a handball and the goal was disallowed by the referee.
Milan threatened again through Alexis Saelemaekers, but were thwarted by Henderson. Man United had a chance to break through through Harry Maguire in the corner. However, Maguire's shot still hit the crossbar, and the first half ended 0-0.
At the start of the second half of the match between Man United vs AC Milan,Man United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Martial with 18-year-old young striker Amad Diallio. The substitution proved effective, as Diallio could have scored against Milan.
Bruno Fernandes fed the ball into the middle of the pitch. Diallio outclassed Tomori and managed a header. Donnarumma, the Milan goalkeeper at the time, looked too forward, making it difficult for him to reach Diallio's header. The score changed to 1-0 with Man United's advantage.
After Man United'sgoal, AC Milan became more aggressive by attacking the man united goal but still did not come to fruition. On the sidelines, Man United made a threat via Daniel James, but still failed. Through Simon Kjaer, Milan finally scored in the 9th minute-+2.
The goal came from a corner, and Kjaer made a header that went through the Man United goal. The goal seemed to disliterate the home side's victory that was already in sight. Shortly afterwards, the referee blew the long whistle and the match between Man United vs Milan ended 1–1.
