Apple is under known to have released a homemade chipset called M1 aimed at Mac devices at the “One More Thing” live-streaming event on November 11, 2020.

Apple claims that the chip is similar to the processors in the latest iPhone 12 and iPad Air but is made with a different architecture than intel processors in previous models and it offers the world’s best performance per Watt of all CPUs allowing users’ laptops to instantly turn on when unlocked.

Technically, M1 is a system on a chip (SoC) that has an ARM-Apple Silicon architecture made with a fabrication process of 5nm with a total transitor count of 16 billion. If viewed structurally embedded in M1 not only processors but also GPUs and RAM at once. The M1 itself consists of an 8-core processor, an 8 Core GPU, and a 16 Core Neural Engine.

Recently Apple has launched a new product equipped with Apple-made chipset M1. This time the product in question is not a smartphone but a MacBook. Apple has released the first two new MacBooks using the M1 chip, the MacBook Air 2020 and the 13 Inch MacBook Pro. This means that both of these latest MacBook products became Apple’s first ARM-based laptops and received Apple Silicon maintenance. MacBook Air 2020 – M1

This MacBook Air comes with an 8-core CPU and a 7-core GPU with a choice of RAM between 8GB and 16GB with storage ranging from 512GB to 2TB. If the user wants to double the storage space and one extra GPU core, then the user must pay an additional fee of approximately US$ 250 or equivalent to Rp. 3.500.000.

Speaking of connections, Apple supports WiFi 6, Touch ID, Bluetooth 5.0, and two USB C ports that support charging, Thunderbolt 3, DisplayPort, headphone jack and USB 3.1 Gen 2 on MacBook Air 2020. This MacBook Air 2020 comes with the same 720p camera as the previous model.

MacBook Pro 13 Inch – M1


In addition to the latest MacBook Air, Apple also released the presence of the latest MacBook Pro. It’s the first Pro version to use special maintenance with Apple Silicon derived from the chipset used the M1.

The new MacBook Pro comes with a size of 13 Inch which is arguably smaller than the previous model which has a size of 16 inches. That’s what made its name known as the 13 Inch MacBook Pro. Apple claims that this 13 Inch MacBook Pro has an outstanding battery life that lasts up to 17 hours.

This MacBook Pro 13 Inch makes it easy to operate your laptop using Apple Pencil, such as designing, editing photos or creating 3D models. The new version of the MacBook Pro comes with four ports, one of which is a Thunderbolt 3 port supported with USB C.

MacBook Air 2020 and MacBook Pro 13 Inch Price

Both these laptops are both MacBook Air 2020 and MacBook Pro 13 Inch can be ordered starting from November 11, 2020 yesterday and only available on November 17, 2020. For MacBook Air 2020 with M1 chip is bandrol priced around US$ 999 or equivalent to Rp. 14 million and for the MacBook Pro 13 Inch is bandrol priced around US$ 1299 or equivalent to the price of Rp. 18 million.
