Sam Asghari has officially filed for divorce from Britney Spears after a year of marriage. The actor’s divorce petition reportedly was filed on August 16, 2023.
Asghari cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the divorce. He is requesting Britney to pay for his legal fees and is seeking spousal support beyond the terms of their prenuptial agreement.
In his divorce documents, Sam Asghari stated that he has been living separately from Britney Spears since July 28, 2023. Furthermore, his legal representation revealed that there is a possibility that their prenuptial agreement regarding property division might be contested.
“Sam has not addressed the division of property yet because there are several community and quasi-community assets and debts that Sam is currently unaware of,” said Neal Hersh, the actor’s attorney.

Neal Hersh’s explanation reinforces earlier reports that Sam Asghari wants to renegotiate their prenuptial agreement with Britney Spears in order to protect the ‘privacy’ of the mother of two.
The 41-year-old singer is even rumored to have enlisted the services of prominent U.S. divorce attorney Laura Wasser to handle her divorce proceedings.
Interestingly, following the news of the separation, there are other rumors suggesting that Sam Asghari is requesting Britney Spears to provide more in terms of assets than what was stipulated in their prenuptial agreement.
“Sam Asghari is threatening to expose Britney Spears’ secrets to the public if his desire for a larger share of the assets is not met. That’s his current focus,” Thursday, August 17, 2023.
